Getting Ready For Christmas

I was sat in church one Sunday morning, the advent candle was lit.
We sang this song:-
'I lift my hands to the coming king,
to the great I am, to you I sing, for you’re the one who reigns within my heart.
And I will serve no foreign god, nor any other treasure.
For you are my hearts desire the spirit without measure
Unto your name I will bring my sacrifice.'

The line ‘Spirit without measure’ jumped out as I was singing it.
The Holy spirit gives without measure, we can be totally full to overflowing with Him.

Can we be filled without measure when we have undealt stuff that needs removing?
Are there things in our lives that blocks the holy spirit or quenches Him ?

I was reminded when my boys were little, before Christmas we would have a clear out of their toys.
I would get three bags, one to give away, one to throw away and one to keep.
I am ruthless when it comes to sort outs, I am known as the most unsentimental person in our family.
My motto is “If you haven’t used it in the last year it needs to be passed on”
It was a good time to clear out tat, things that were just of no use any more.

This advent I am challenged to have a spiritual and emotional clear out.
Are there any areas in my life that God is pointing out to me that have not been dealt with?
Unforgiveness that needs to be released? Any area in my life that I have opened to the demonic realm that needs to be cleared out so that the Holy spirit can flood back in and fill me without measure?

I pray that this advent you will take time with the Holy Spirit and ask Him
Please show me areas of my life that are blocking you moving through me.
Please show me anyone I need to release forgiveness to.
This Advent Lord may I look for you in every day and welcome your presence in my life.
May your presence and peace flood my being so that I can move into the New Year, free from heaviness, unforgiveness and any kind of bondage.
Thank you, Holy Spirit that you give without measure, fill me afresh today. Amen
