I awoke at 4 am with a clear picture of a pile of clay lamps!
The shape of the lamp was like Aladdin’s lamp but plane looking!
The lamps looked discarded or abandoned.
On top of the pile was one lamp that still had a flame burning bright.
I asked Jesus what the picture meant!
Immediately the words of the old song came to mind.
Give me oil in my lamp keep me burning!
Then the thought came, the lamps could represent those who have followed Jesus in the past and because of heartache or the church hurting them they walked away and let the oil run dry.
I went on my day and the picture kept coming back to mind.
I tried to draw it.
I then asked Jesus what did he want me to get from this picture.
We are the Holy Spirits vessels ( the lamp) we are called to be a light to the world.
So often we walk in our own strength then wonder why we become exhausted and burn out.
The oil in the lamp is the Holy Spirit we need to ask him to continually fill us so we never run dry.
We are to burn bright so others can see the light of Christ in us and follow Jesus.
““No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.”
Luke 11:33 NIV
Those of you who are reading this that are run down and feel empty. Ask the the Holy Spirit to fill you and refresh you. No one else can do that for you.
Those who have been hurt by the church and have walked away. I am so sorry the church gets it so wrong sometimes. Jesus has not hurt you, Jesus never abandons his children.
He promised to never leave you or forsake you
Come to him today and ask him to take the hurt and ask him to help you forgive these who have hurt you and ask him to fill you afresh with the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit refresh me. Amen
A good reminder
