Friend or Follower

A follower of Jesus often follows at a distance.

A friend of Jesus walks side-by-side in perfect harmony with him.

A follower feels they should or ought to do what Jesus does .

A friend talks and turns to him and says “what do you need from me today?”

A follower lives for Jesus.

A friend lives with Jesus.

A follower copies Jesus.

A friend compliments what Jesus does.

A follower often talks at Jesus.

A friend will talk and then listen to Jesus .

 

A letter from Jesus

 

Dear Friend, do you know how loved you are? Do you know how much I delight in your company?

I only desire your friendship. The pressure you put on yourself is never from me.

You are my beautiful creation, whom I love to keep company with.

It’s time to take off the old rigid, religious, uniform. Let me dress you in my robe of righteousness it’s incredibly light, breathable and so flexible.

 

My friend, I’ve been noticing that you are back listening to the lies of the enemy.

Please remember his voice is loud, brash and condemning.

I speak in gentle whispers.

I encourage and build you up and yes sometimes convict you.

Remember the enemy is a liar and a manipulator. He always discourages. So when those lies come, you need to put him in his place. He hates it when you quote my word to him.

Remember nothing can separate you from my love, that’s the truth, my friend.

 

Nothing you have ever done can make me love you less and nothing you will ever do will make me love you more.

 

Keep walking with me, dear one. I am your constant. I have never let you down and I won’t start now.

 

When you beat yourself up and don’t love yourself and are self critical, it hurts my heart.

It’s the same when you criticise others. They too are my beloved creation.

Show grace to yourself and extend my grace to others.

Love the you that I have created you to be, and love the people I bring into your life.
