Gods Kingdom

“For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called

Wonderful Counselor,

Mighty God,

Everlasting Father,

Prince of Peace.

Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.

He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness

from that time on and forever.

The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I have read these verses so many times.

Its a reading that’s in most carol or Advent services.

As I read it the other day the line

‘The government will be on his shoulders.’ jumped out and made me stop and re read and then read it in other versions.

I think it hit me because of where we are at in the world right now. Governments are breaking down, politicians are attacking one another.

Yet the truth of this verse is that Jesus came to carry the government. He came to show us a Godly Kingdom. A Godly way of ruling and living.

He is still on His throne and as his children we are not to carry the weight of the world but to live out His kingdom.

Jesus has left us His Holy spirit who is our wonderful counsellor, we have the prince of peace within us.

Our role is to be peace in the world.

To seek Gods counsel and strategies and live them out.

We are not to live in a hopeless mindset but in a victory mindset.

We are to bring Gods Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.

What does Gods rule look like?

When the world spews out fear

We speak out Gods word.

When others hate, we show love.

Where there is an unforgiving spirit, we mirror forgiveness.

Where there is despair we share the God of Hope.

Gods kingdom is an upside down kingdom

The world is getting darker

So as Gods children let’s shine brighter.
