“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.””
Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
The last part of this verse hit me in the face this last couple of weeks.
Then the verse has been in everything I have read!
God really wants me to
grasp this concept!
When we are walking closely with Jesus we live in constant communication with him.
When we are talking to Him and listening to Him we are not focusing on the world around us and the burdens that we are carrying will not be weighing us down.
God has been whispering to me this week “Lay your burdens down they are not yours to carry”
“Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders— he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. “
Psalms 55:22-23 MSG
When I read that verse I suddenly saw Jesus carrying the cross.
Can you imagine the weight on his shoulders? He had been whipped and humiliated he will have had open sores on his back. Jesus was forced to carry the weight of the very tool that would kill him.
At Easter we remember all that Jesus went through his death and resurrection.
He is alive and because of that truth we can be assured of his presence with us and his deepest desire is for his children to walk in communion with Him.
What burden are you holding on to?What is it that is weighing you down?
Come to Jesus in prayer with your hands open, as a symbol you are handing everything over to the one who gave His life that you could live a life of freedom.
Notice when you have given everything to Him what you feel like.
Let’s keep company with Jesus and live the life he intended us to live.
Thanks Ang! This "abiding" (John 15:5) is so critical to knowing God, experiencing His love and power in our lives. What a great reminder you've given us all.
