What does peace look like to you?
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Is Peace the absence of anxiety and fear?
Or is it a sense of calm in all of those situations?
This verse in Philippians says if we hand over everything to God with thanksgiving then our hearts and our minds will be guarded by peace.
I have such a wonderful picture of angels of peace being on guard around my mind and my heart.
I see about four of them mighty warrior angels surrounding my thought life and my heart and my emotions!
What does a guard do? It stops the enemy coming in. The guard pushes back anything that tries to force its way in..
When we offer all our worries and concerns to God then and only then does peace come.
Peace is a protector.
Peace is a defender of fear.
Peace is a blanket of comfort.
Peace is a gift from God.

Love the focus on the heart and mind here! Even though where I ccurrently live it is generally very peaceful in the town and neighborhood we are certainly aware that in the USA and around the world there in much conflcit, rejection of God and His word, and tons of consequences for all this human stuglling and fighting. How wonderful to have God's peace in my heart and mind, regardless of external circumstances!
