Where is God in our pain?

At the start of the year, our beautiful town was hit with tragedy.
We all carried the heaviness of the heartache.
In times of pain and shock, it is so easy to blame God and ask the question,
"Where was God?"
"Why did He not stop this from happening?"
These are questions that are not easily answered.
In my own life, tragedy hit my own family with the death of my sister in a horrendous car accident.
Friends would say to me
“ How can you believe in a God now?”
My reply has always been.
“ I wouldn't be able to carry on without God in my life”

God has been my one constant throughout my life.
He has given me strength. He has been my peace. He gives me hope.

I want to suggest that in our town. God was in the coming together of all our amazing emergency services. Working as one team.
God was in the cafes offering drinks and words of comfort to those who needed it.
God was in the coming together of churches uniting as one. As they gathered to light candles, pray or sit in silence. Offering a quiet space for those who needed it.

God is still God in the midst of our pain.
God holds those whose hearts are mourning.
God is holding those who are suffering from the trauma of it all.

God has big shoulders; he can take your anger.
Tell him how you feel.
He wants you to know He is with you in every emotion that you feel.

In the Bible, we read
“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”
Psalms 147:3 NLT

May our town and all who are going through grief, feel God's comfort at this time.
